Brian Gallagher visits Raheen N.S.

Brian Gallagher, author, playwright and broadcaster visited Raheen N.S. in October 2018.

Brian spoke to us about his life as a writer,  the challenges of bringing a piece of writing to publication and the excitement of travelling to far flung destinations to research his historical novels.

Brian showed us the book covers for his novels and we discussed the importance of creating a  cover which would appeal to readers and  capture their interest.

We rated his book covers and offered our opinions of them. He explained the process of creating the cover, with the illustrator.

We talked to Brian about the books we were reading. We questioned him about the inspiration for his books , the significance of attention to detail in historical novels and the importance of his characters .

We enjoyed chatting and engaging with Brian about reading and writing. It was an interesting workshop, which gave us a great insight into the life of a novelist.
